However, in recent years, the problem of residues of antibiotics in honey has been reported. Tetracycline compounds are indeed frequently used in apiculture for the treatment of bacterial foulbrood diseases. This practice is illegal in Europe and has resulted in the emergence of tetracycline-resistant bacteria strains, which is a major concern for human public health.
